I know from my own experience how stressful it can be to find a dress that I love while also coordinating outfits for everyone else in the family. The last thing I want you to do is worry about what you’re wearing. Just say no to that last minute scramble to the store for outfits, Mama!

The heart behind what I do is ensuring that your session experience easy, and stress-free from start to finish. I promise you won’t have to worry about the details, because I’ll take care of them for you!

Though we go over this process during your consultation, I thought it might be helpful to answer some FAQs about the styling process for your session, why I started the SAP Client Wardrobe, and more!

All about the Client Wardrobe

What is the Client Wardrobe?

Sometimes we love a dress in our own wardrobe but it doesn’t photograph well. Or maybe you’re looking for something very specific and no matter how many dresses we order, none of them make the cut. I hear this from so many of my clients who want a forgiving waistline for their newborn session, sleeves to cover arms, or just don’t want to spend money on a dress they will wear once.

Thus, the SAP Client Collection was born! I understood my clients’ pain points, because they were mine too!

Each and every dress in the collection has been carefully chosen to compliment different body shapes. There are options in a range of sizes that are postpartum and bump-friendly.

While use of the Client Wardrobe is not required, I do find it helps SO much. Not only does it relieve some stress for you, but you can also go into your session feeling confident and beautiful. Pair that with hair and makeup before your session and its a fun day of well-deserved pampering for Mama!

Why is wardrobe styling so important?

While there are many factors that go into the final outcome of your gallery, wardrobe plays such an important role. My style of photography really gravitates toward soft, neutral color palettes with a mix of textures like lace and knits. White, creams, greys, and even soft pinks and blues are perfect for creating classic images.

My goal is to help you get the most out of your investment. Neutral styling helps us create cohesive wall galleries that can grow over time and compliment any room in your home. The will also look timeless in your heirloom album 20 years from now.

As I love looking at old photos and the nostalgia they create, the images themselves are often very dark and saturated. Bold or dark colors and prints tend to take away from the focus of the image, which is the connection between you and your little ones.

My goal is to document what really matters- authentic emotion and the love your family has for one another without the distractions!

What sizes do you offer?

I truly believe every mom deserves to feel beautiful no matter what size. That is why the SAP Client Wardrobe includes everything from petite to plus size dresses in a variety of styles.

There are over 60 dresses to choose from, and that just keeps growing! What can I say… I love to shop for Mamas so you don’t have to!

Do you have options for my husband and kids in the wardrobe too?

Yes! I have options for kids up to size 8. For Dad, the wardrobe includes a variety of shirts and knits.

I know sometimes the wardrobe is a weird concept to Dad, so he may want to use his own clothing. To help them out, I’m happy to send over a Pinterest board with in-stock shopping links for Dads!

What is the styling process like?

Once your session is booked, we’ll meet for a styling appointment in the studio. If you prefer, we can even have a virtual styling appointment! Here you’ll have the opportunity to try on dresses and we’ll get to know each other in the process.

This is every Mama’s favorite part- it’s like a shopping trip where you don’t have to buy anything. I’m sure Dad can get on board with that, right?!

Typically when I style my clients we start with choosing Mom’s outfit first. Mom is always the hardest to please, so once your dress is selected we move to styling the kids and Dad.

Once we have every family member styled we move to accessories like shoes. I always say less is best because the focus is really on you! You are free to kick off shoes for studio portraits, too! I do always recommend that Dad wears closed toe shoes though.
