Over the course of the last two years so many families have had to adapt plans due to the pandemic, especially those who were expecting like this family. And as a baby and milestone photographer, it broke my heart not being able to welcome new families into the studio during those earlier days. Thankfully, we are beyond that and I like to think we made up for lost time with this sweet boy’s milestone sessions!

The first time I got to meet this little guy was for his 6 month sitter session. We had the most beautiful outdoor session and SO many smiles!! You would never know his first year was during a pandemic because he wasn’t shy one bit. In fact, he may be the most joyful, smiling baby I’ve ever photographed! And that is saying something because I have had a lot of happy babies in front of my camera.

By the time we got to his 1 year simplicity session, he had changed so much! Still the happiest baby, just a bigger version with so many new skills. He crawled around my studio smiling away in a little romper borrowed from the client wardrobe.

Documenting Your Baby’s First Year | Baby and Milestone Photographer

One of the things Mom and I talked about was how special it would be to have one photographer document all of his milestones. Even though the pandemic forced us to miss the newborn session, it has been such a blessing to document him as he grows. With baby number two on the way, I am so excited to continue working with them as a First Year Collective member.

I find so many families go on to do the Collective with their second child, too! Not only do you have the advantage of cohesive colors and photography style, but it also allows for more thoughtful planning of your wall designs and albums. I’m also grateful that the First Year Collective gives us a chance to get to know each other over the years. Kids tend to do so well when they already know me!

For this family, I designed an album with images from each of baby’s milestone sessions. They also chose four beautiful frames for their walls which we can easily add on to once baby number two makes his or her arrival.

And then before we knew it, he turned one!
