The cake smash session for my First Year Collective clients is always one of my favorite parts of the experience. It’s why I build it right into the collection, and it’s always so fun!

I can’t believe this sweet boy is already one! I’ve been photographing this sweet family for over a year, and each session has been a delight.

The Cake Smash Session

Every collective member gets a free cake smash session! This is the perfect way to document a cake smash since many babies don’t do well with their cake smash if they’re having a party. With all the distractions, it can be a little overwhelming for them. Having a cake smash in the studio is the perfect solution!

This sweet boy was absolutely adorable in his little blue outfit. I couldn’t love this age more, and he had the best time in the studio, showing off how he’s working on standing by himself.

He also really loved his cake. Like most babies, he was a little hesitant at first. After the first bite, he dove right in and made the sweetest mess with his icing.

A Growing Gallery Wall

For the second part of their session, we used a location similar to one of my favorite local Austin spots. It’s a beautiful location that paired beautifully with the location we used for baby boy’s six-month milestone session! I love that Mom wanted to keep the same location and chose a similar floral dress in the same color family. This means everything will flow beautifully for the custom artwork we are designing together for their home.

I am thrilled they chose a gallery wall to show off their collective sessions. The gallery we are designing is a seven-piece installation documenting maternity, newborn, six-month, and now their one-year session.
