Are you welcoming a new little one soon? This week on the blog, I’m sharing some of my favorite tips for preparing siblings for newborn sessions! If you’re a little worried about how everything will flow during your session with your energetic toddler, worry not. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve!
It may seem a little daunting, but including all your little ones in your session is one of the sweetest ways to document this new season for your family.
The first helpful tip is to schedule your session around your toddler’s naptime. I know how cranky everyone can get when tired, so ensuring everyone is well-rested is the best approach.
Siblings can also come a little later to the session than mom and baby! If you want to include them for some of the session but prefer not to have them there the whole time, that’s ok! Being strategic with scheduling also prevents them from getting bored with waiting around for their turn at the studio!
Speaking of grumpy – As a mom, I know how hard it can be to get my little ones to cooperate with just about anything when hungry.
Avoid the hangry toddlers and pack their favorite snacks for after their session. You can even make things extra fun and treat them to a special treat after they’re done with their part of the session!
I have plenty of tricks for getting siblings close to the baby. If you’re worried about how cooperative they will be, I promise you I’ve got you covered.
Even with older siblings, a lot has changed in their little world. But trust me. I’ve done this a time or two. We will get those beautiful moments documented for you to cherish forever.
