I don’t think I’ve ever met a one year old who enjoyed the camera as much as this sweet girl did during her first birthday milestone session! The last time I saw her she was a tiny baby (see her newborn session here!) so it was such a joy to see how much she has grown!

So much has changed since I first met this family before the pandemic went into full swing. It’s always such an honor to photograph milestones for growing families, but when baby’s first year is spent mostly at home it feels even more special.

Getting to know this sweet girl’s personality more during this session was so much fun. The moment I brought my camera out she had the biggest smile on her face! She was so friendly and expressive, and loved playing in the teepee with her little stuffed bunny.

No first birthday milestone session is complete without a cake smash! You never really know how kids will react to the frosting. She made the best facial expressions and really enjoyed it, though.

One of the expressions I was able to document for Mom and Dad is what they call her piggy face. Apparently her big brother made the same facial expression as a baby, too! Those are the sweet details that are so incredibly special to document. Plus, they are perfect to add to a first year album!

Years from now when Mom looks back at these images, I hope that those little details will transport her back to this sweet stage of life. To the giggles and silly faces, stuffed animal that baby girl carried with her everywhere, and what a light she has been during an uncertain year.
