This one year milestone and cake smash session was the sweetest, and not just because of the cake!

I love seeing families back in the studio for these sessions for several reasons. The biggest is that I get to see how much their sweet babies have grown. They’ve gone from glimmers of hope for a precious new life to delicate little newborns to squishy, almost toddlers always on the move! I love celebrating each of those seasons with you.

We started their SAP First Year Collective with their maternity session, followed by their newborn and six-month milestone sessions. For this session, we started in my Austin studio with a handful of portraits of baby girl. She was so excited about showing off her crawling and how she’s learning to pull herself up on her own. She wore the most adorable floral print two-piece set with a matching headband that fit her tiny personality perfectly. Mom and Dad also chose pieces from the Client Wardrobe for the session!

Next, we upped the sweetness level by bringing out her smash cake. Some babies are hesitant initially, but this little one knew exactly what to do. After a quick wardrobe change, we went outdoors to finish their session with portraits of baby girl with Mom and Dad to take advantage of the warm weather.

This session was the last from their collective, and it’s been so delightful watching their little family of three grow over the last year! It’s always bitter-sweet to end a collective since seeing my clients every few months is so lovely. We truly become friends after our time together, and it feels like being part of the family.

The one perk is seeing their Collective Albums come together. We also worked on a gallery wall during each of their sessions. Since they’re building a new home, their treasured new gallery wall will move with them!
