What a fun (and quick!) year it’s been since I last saw this wonderful family in my studio here in Austin! Seeing this sweet girl for her one year milestone session was bittersweet. I swear it was just yesterday we were documenting  her newborn session! As you can see, she is just the happiest baby with the sweetest grin and very much on-the-go!

Celebrating Baby’s One Year Milestone

I adore having families back for baby’s first birthday session! While some parents choose to do a cake smash, others really want to keep it simple and focus on baby’s new skills.

Most of the time we start with baby sitting on the studio bed. At this age it doesn’t take long for babies to start crawling, giggling and clapping!

This little girl was so fast! We promptly added Mom and Dad for photos on the bed before letting her get down to explore the studio. She crawled right over to the windows and then back to see the wooden toys.

Even if baby isn’t walking by their first birthday session, standing and propping up against the pouf are fun skills to document for parents, too! Babies tend to be so smiley at the one year milestone and this little girl was definitely that.

Personalizing Your Session

Mom and baby wore pieces from the client wardrobe for both of their sessions which made coordinating easy. Mom also asked if we could snap a few images of baby in a traditional Korean outfit and this was probably my favorite part of the session! Once all family portraits were completed, baby had her outfit change. The hat didn’t stay on long, but goodness was she CUTE! (Scroll to see!)

Customizing the session to include this special outfit was really important to Mama and so I’m glad we could make it happen.

Then to help remember her first year, I installed two gallery walls in their home with four custom frames in each design.
